Sebastian Inlet State Park
Crown jewel of the treasure coast
Located on the tip of two barrier islands and surrounded by water, Sebastian Inlet State Park has three miles of beautiful Atlantic Ocean beaches. Other Sebastian Inlet State Park beaches are perfect for swimming, surfing, exploring and viewing wildlife, making it an eco-tourist's delight.
Outdoor Focus
When you're not exploring the nature trails, you can swim, shell and sunbathe. Other outdoor highlights include:
- Surfing: You'll find some of the best surfing on the East Coast here. Monster Hole, on the south side, is a hotspot for big, long rides.
- Boating: Canoeists and kayakers have access to the mangrove-lined Indian River Lagoon. If fishing is more your style, the waters surrounding Sebastian Inlet provide fresh and salt water for varied fishing opportunities anglers will love.
Area Attractions
This undeveloped area offers wildlife as its main draw. Bottlenose dolphins, manatees and more than 180 species of birds grace its waters and shores. January and February bring rare right baleen whales close to the coastline.
- The Brevard Zoo: Located in nearby Melbourne, this is the only zoo in the country where you can kayak on-site. The exhibits are home to nearly 600 animals from five continents, and include a kid-friendly petting zoo.
Area Events
- Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge (November to May): Take a tour or rent a boat, kayak or canoe for breathtaking views from the water.
