Central East Florida
Where speed and space meet sea and sky
The fast-paced Central East Florida shoreline stretches from Ormond Beach all the way to Ponce Inlet. This region lies along the Atlantic Ocean and provides visitors with beautiful views, natural wonders and The Birthplace of Speed - Daytona. With the Atlantic as its playground, Central East Florida provides visitors with some of the best surfing, snorkeling, fishing and swimming in the state.
If you can tear yourself away from the beach, you'll find thrills of a different kind at nearby Cape Canaveral. Home of NASA's Kennedy Space Station, this high-tech section of Florida earned its nickname: The Space Coast. With sun, surf, sky and space, the Central East is truly out of this world.
Central East Florida is home to the following best beaches:
- Cocoa Beach: Close to NASA's Kennedy Space Station, Walt Disney World, and wildlife preserves, Cocoa Beach offers the best of all worlds. Whether you're looking for a peaceful fishing refuge or thrilling rides, Cocoa beach is within a short drive of the best action in Florida.
- Daytona Beach: Speed demons will love this fast-paced racing hotspot. With NASCAR, spring break parties and miles of fun-in-the-sun beaches, this is a high-octane stop for the young at heart. If you'd rather race on water than land, there's jet skiing, kayaking and parasailing to feed your adrenaline needs.
- New Smyrna Beach: The safest swimming beach in Florida, New Smyrna also hosts some of the best surfing around. Family-friendly, it's close to Disney and Daytona but provides a quiet refuge for those suffering from attraction burnout. Anglers will love fishing at Mosquito Lagoon.
- Playalinda Beach: Mosquito Lagoon, Manatee festivals and Merritt Island make Playalinda attractive to more than nudists. Plenty of backcountry camping are a welcome change from the built up beaches of nearby Daytona.
- Sebastian Inlet State Park: This undeveloped area offers eco-tourists more than the standard shorebirds. Pelicans and loggerhead turtles are two of the local inhabitants you'll want to see. Not only does the nearby Brevard Zoo house almost 600 animals, it's the only zoo in the country to offer on-site kayaking.
