St. George Island State Park

Florida's forgotten coast

This 1962-acre barrier island park consists of nine miles of pristine beach and dunes, surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Apalachicola Bay. If you enjoy walking for miles without seeing another soul, St. George Island is the place to be -almost half of the beach is accessible only by foot. This secluded area is also perfect for eco-tourists.

Outdoor Focus

Swimming, shelling and hiking are favorite park activities. The meandering two-and-a-half mile trail to Gap Point, provides a pleasant hike through a pine flatwood forest.

Area Attractions

St. George's Bay is shallow, but small offshore boats can surf and fish for flounder, redfish, sea trout, pompano, whiting and sometimes Spanish mackerel.

There's plenty of seafood dining in neighboring Carrabelle, Apalachicola and Eastpoint. World-renowned for their oysters, shrimp and scallops, this is a seafood fiend's paradise.
