Punta Gorda

Old South charm

Punta Gorda is an enchanting historic waterfront town where royal palms line cobblestone streets. With plenty of wide verandas and street lamps, but no high-rises or traffic lights to interfere with its Old South charm, you'll feel like you wandered back in time. Englewood has four beaches on the charming barrier island of Manasota Key. The lesser known Englewood Beach remains uncrowded, affordable and ideal for shelling. Snowbirds flock here to boat, fish, golf and enjoy nature in a peaceful setting.

Outdoor Focus

Whether you want to stroll the beaches, collect shells or venture offshore to fish, cruise or swim, you'll be surrounded by sun, surf and sand. No matter how you filled the daylight hours, gorgeous sunsets round off the day and lead into romantic, starlit nights.

(From Sarah) Let's see, there's the visual Art center in Punta Gorda, the Cultural center in Port Charlotte next to the Aaron st. library, we have several libraries, I'm not sure how good public schools are because I don't have kids, we have a lot of nice churches if you are religious, there is an Irish pub in PG called the Celtic Ray which sometimes has musicians and other entertainers especially around St. Pat's, but I don't drink so I don't go there, there's the town center mall in Port Charlotte and a place near the art store Micheals and bed bath and beyond called KidStar it's a little amusemnt park with little rides for kids. How old are your kids? In punta Gorda there is fisherman/'s pier which is on the water . i hate to dispaoint you but we really don't have such great beaches becasue of the peace river which meets the gulf of Mexico between Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda.

Sorry, this is being written a second time. Purchasing a Vacation home in Punta Gorda Isles. Have our main home in Davie, which is two hours away by car. Where are nearby beaches. The closest best beaches. Where are amusemets and/or recreation areas for children. Need distances and travel times.
